About IMHO
The International Medical Health Organization (IMHO) is a US-based humanitarian
organization dedicated to rebuilding the health care infrastructure of the
war-torn areas of Sri Lanka. We are a non-profit, non-political charity made
up of health care and non-medical volunteers from 20 States. Established in
2003 by a committed group of doctors, nurses and other health professionals,
IHMO projects focus on improving the health and welfare of the people living
in the war-ravaged areas of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is an island nation located in the Indian Ocean about 20 miles south
of the tip of India. It has endured more than 20 years of civil war, which
has taken a tremendous toll on the access and availability of health care for
the people of Sri Lanka, in the North and East areas. By offering
training and health care to local populations as well as medical assistance
to people at risk, IMHO helps to rehabilitate devastated health care systems
and bring people back to self-reliance.
Vision
Our vision is access to basic health care for all and well being of humanity.
Mission
IMHO USA helps to develop and improve the health care infrastructure throughout
the world by focusing on one community at a time and one nation at a time.
We improve the health of those communities where help is most needed by:
- Assessing the health needs
- Highlighting the state of health
- Channeling resources to meet the identified needs
- Facilitating the education and training of health care professionals
- Partnering with grass roots organizations and international NGOs
