Development
Foundation and Centre for Health Care
A medical clinic consisting of a). General Medicine; b). Eye and; c). Dental - was
conducted by The Centre for Health Care in collaboration with The Saviya Development
Foundation at Nupe Sanscruthy Mathiyasdanaya, Matara on the 12th of March 2006 on
a request made by the Saviya Development Foundation to celebrate the international
Women’s
day.
After the inaugural formalities exchanged between both organizations at the
above centre the clinical programme commenced at 10am and ended at 5.30pm. In all
about 300 patients with general conditions were examined and treated by the two doctors
namely Dr.Muralieswaran and Dr.Ganesharajah from The Centre for Health Care, Batticaloa.

The performance of the eye team was very satisfactory where a total of 140 patients
were examined out of which 90 were provided with vision glasses. Some were referred
to the General Hospital Matara.

The dental clinic too was successfully conducted where about 130 child patients
were examined and cleaning and filling was done to 95 children. All these patients
were issued with toothpaste and brush. On the whole this one day clinic was a tremendous
success considering the views expressed by the public and the organizers.

A salient feature of this event was the visit of the Hon. Minister of Cultural Affairs
and National Heritage who graced the occasion in the afternoon. He was highly pleased
with the medical services being undertaken and specially appreciated the presence
of the two doctors and the 16 volunteers from The Centre for Health Care who served
as an ethnic and cultural link between The North East and the South.
